Este artículo pretende abordar el problema de la posición económica de los ancianos españoles en los comienzos de la década de los noventa a partir de las principales estadísticas básicas disponbles y centrando la atención en la estructura de los hogares de ancianos. El envejecimiento es considerado como un proceso dinámico carente de comportamientos estancos, y la vejez, como fenómeno social, es entendida como una situación que recoge heterogéneas posiciones sociales y económicas en su interior. Se analizan las diversas formas de convivencia en hogares con ancianos, así como configuraciones de renta y de gasto en función de estas distintas situaciones. igualmente, se presentan las distintas interpretaciones posibles para situar a los ancianos en relación con el umbral de pobreza, y se comparan las distintas situaciones que se registran entre tipos de hogares con y sin ancianos.

This essay explores where journalists in Puerto Rico stands in regard to the fundamental values of their profession, at a time that Internet has impacted the way that information is produced and it has put at risk traditional media's economic stability and their hegemony as information source. Using the survey method, this research found that journalist in Puerto Rico are identified with the value of thruth and objectivity-traits thta belong to the profile of the journalist "disseminator", one that adheres to his or her reporting function rather than to this or her role as interpreter or adversary of power. Also, against corruption and strenghtens the democratic system. Ehile they understand their social role, journalists' opinions are divided on the values of their profession that claim that the audience must be their primary loyalty and that journalistic work should independent of the interest ofthe media owners. In addition, they absolutly put aside as a value to keep distance from sources of information. ; Este ensayo explora, mediante el método de encuesta, cuáles, de acuerdo con los periodistas en Puerto Rico, son los valores fundamentales de la profesión, en un periodo en que la entrada de la Internet ha impactado la forma de haccer periodismo y ha puesto enm crisis la estabilidad económica y la hegemonía informativa de lo medios tradicionales. Esta investigación encontró que los periodistas en la Isla se identifican con el valor de la verdad y la objetividad-características que responden al perfíl del periodista difusor, aquel que se adhiere a su función de informador-, más que al de intérprete o adversario del poder. También, halló que los periodistas reconocen el impacto que tiene su profesión en la sociedad: protege contra la corrupción, fortalece el sistema democrático. Pese a que entienden su rol social, las opiniones se dividen sobre los valores de la profesión que afirman que la audiencia debe ser independiente del poder de los dueños de la empresa. A esto se le añade que ponen absolutamente de lado mantener distancia de las fuentes informativas.

Consistent research has identified that a marked skills gap exists in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). This skills gap results in high youth unemployment rates in a competitive market which has seen an increase in employers seeking specific skills when recruiting. To provide better opportunities for students entering the workforce the African HE system should adapt and search for innovative ways to respond to market demands. Universities can redesign the curriculum to focus on the key skills required by employers such as technical skills, transferable skills, and digital skills to address the skills gap in an attempt to reduce youth unemployment rates. EPICA, a strategic partnership between African and European institutions and organizations, highlights the important role that technology plays by introducing an innovative ePortfolio in universities aimed at showcasing graduates' employability skills. This project consisted of an empirical study demonstrating the implementation of the ePortfolio used to assess and present graduates' skills. The core findings suggested that a marked skills gap exists in graduate students' employability skills in SSA and that the ePortfolio provides a viable solution to reduce it. Results, strengths and limitations as well as ideas for future research are interpreted in the discussion.

AbstractIncreasingly, among international organizations concerned with unemployment rates and industry demands, there is an emphasis on the need to improve graduates' employability skills and the transparency of mechanisms for their recognition. This research presents the Employability Skills Micro-credentialing (ESMC) methodology, designed under the EPICA Horizon 2020 (H2020) project and tested at three East African universities, and shows how it fosters pedagogical innovation and promotes employability skills integration and visibility. The methodology, supported by a competency-based ePortfolio and a digital micro-credentialing system, was evaluated using a mixed-method design, combining descriptive statistics and qualitative content analysis to capture complementary stakeholder perspectives. The study involved the participation of 13 lecturers, 169 students, and 24 employers. The results indicate that the ESMC methodology is a promising approach for supporting students in their transition from academia to the workplace. The implementation of the methodology and the involvement of employers entails rethinking educational practices and academic curricula to embed employability skills. It enables all actors to broaden their understanding of the relationship between higher education and the business sector and to sustain visibility, transparency, and reliability of the recognition process. These findings indicate that there are favourable conditions in the region for the adoption of the approach, which is a meaningful solution for the stakeholder community to address the skills gap.

La investigación tiene como objetivo, Analizar el estrés laboral de los docentes de 1º y 2º ciclos de la Educación Escolar Básica (EEB) en Paraguay. La metodología utilizada fue descriptiva, cuantitativa de corte transversal, aplicando un cuestionario a 75 docentes de instituciones educativas oficiales de la ciudad de Encarnación. Los resultados muestran que los docentes presentan un nivel medio de estrés laboral, teniendo en cuenta las dimensiones se presenta el nivel medio en el agotamiento emocional y la realización personal para docentes de ambos sexos, no así en la despersonalización. La presencia del estrés laboral se presenta en diferentes niveles en cuento a las variables demográficas como edad, años de experiencia en la docencia, turno en el que enseña y la ubicación de la institución sea zona urbana o rural, donde enseña. Se concluye la necesidad de la urgente intervención para prevenir posibles afectaciones en la salud mental y controlar de esa manera la exposición a diferentes factores de riesgo psicosocial.
